    Mauritius is located in the South-West Indian Ocean, just above the Tropic of Capricorn (20°S, 57°E), around 2,000 km east of Africa and 855 km east of Madagascar. The island is largely surrounded by coral reefs and features coastal plains that rise to a central plateau reaching about 670 metres, bordered by three mountain ranges, including the island’s highest peak.

    Mauritius experiences a maritime climate, with tropical summers from November to April and mild sub-tropical winters from May to October. In the central plateau, temperatures range between 13°C and 19°C during July–August, and 19°C to 25°C in January. Coastal areas are generally around 5°C warmer, offering pleasant conditions year-round.
